We Used This Book For Everything
It turns out we used it to pick our hotel, it piqued our interest for which restaurants we wanted to visit (you must visit Luck Luciano's a local Italian Restaurant) and helped me pick a golf course to play on. We ordered the book for use before we left for Cancun.
The DVD was extremely useful. We were able to view the tourist destinations before we paid for a tour. We actually used the DVD to do two different self tours, something that we probably would not have otherwise done.
The author's humor and insights were great. We really appreciated the fact the the tips were very personal - the author and his family had visited most of the places mentioned and that made it seem like we could trust his recommendations more.
Worth the money and more.
Not what we needed
What we were looking for was information about things to do on the Yucatan, south of Cancun (closer to Tulum), especially snorkling places, restaurants, places to go that are not necessarily the major tourist spots. The title is "What's Cheap and Free in Cancun and the Yucatan", however the content is What's cheap and free in and around Cancun (including the major tourist areas).
When we received the book, the included DVD was coming out of the protective plastic sheet on the front of the cover and was scratched and will not play in either of our computers (though I don't know if it is due to it's being scratched or some component our computers don't have installed)so I can't tell if it would have been useful or not.
Aside from my being disappointed about what was not in the book, we will likely take it with us on our trip. Maybe there will be something useful in it for us, especially if we decide to go see some of the major tourist places.
.
Loved It
Im a single girl. . . with a little budget. . . . with this book I was able to have a great time and experience the fun things in life! Mexico was so amazing, and it would NOT have been the same without the help of this travel book. If your planning a trip to Cancun or the Yucatan, your trip won't be a success without this book.
