A great resource!
She highly recommended Rick Steves' and after receiving it, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I actually struck up a conversation with a stranger standing in a line about my current trip I'm planning to Italy. It is very relatable and easy to use. It breaks down each region/city into easy to follow guides and insights. I can't wait to use it on my trip!.

Great Book
It includes great informtion & unique information on the most traveled areas of Italy. This book is an excellent book for the independent traveler. However, if you're going way off the beaten track, you may want an additional book (i. e. Lonely Planet) which includes information on more areas.

Great Overview of the Country!
It will give you all the basic information you need to know, stuff about train travel, phone calls, etiquette and so forth. I definitely suggest this book as a first book about Italy. Very good for the many different regions. If you are staying in a specific city for awhile, like Rome, i suggest buying the city-specific book, it will help you with museums and specific hotels/restaurants in the city. Check it out at a bookstore first before you buy it here, it's a little thick, so you don't want to carry it if you are buying a lot of other guides too. I pulled out what i needed, and left the rest here.
