They're very up-to-date and the color pictures help you when you're looking for something. All of these "Eyewitness Travel Guides" are the best travel guides, especially for Europe. Not to mention they get you more excited about what you're about to do or see.

DK does it again
They cover transportation, lodging, dining and a lot of other things that travelers so desperately need when they are away from home. I think DK Publishing is one of the outstanding publishers of travel books. .

A great starting place for a trip to Germany
It was very helpful in planning a trip from Berlin to Munich and the Bavarian Alps. If you are heading to Germany you must get this guide. It lays out towns in Germany and what to see in each. We stopped at some wonderful villages on the way and this guide could not be beat. The region by region analysis is great and is useful for planning if you are only heading to one area. If you are just going to Berlin I would get their Berlin guide as this would be a little too much. Otherwise this is the only guide to use for a trip to Germany. .
